Funeral Acknowledgement Wording
An acknowledgement is a formal thank-you, often printed on a card and posted to those who supported the family, or published in a newspaper's classified notices. It is usually short, dignified, and written on behalf of the whole family. In South Africa, families frequently use a programme insert, a printed card with a photograph of the deceased, or a notice in a paper such as the local Knysna-Plett Herald, Daily Sun, or a community publication. Costs vary: a printed card is inexpensive, while a newspaper notice is charged per line or per centimetre and can become costly for longer messages, so many families keep the wording brief. Below are wordings you can adapt by inserting the name, dates, and family surname.
